Systems for nuclear facilities

The current trend nuclear source renaissance brings new requirements for the control systems digitalization and protection systems innovation for research and trainee nuclear reactors.

It also opens up new challenges and opportunities for I&C systems design in the small modular reactors (SMRs) development and in the innovation and supply of I&C systems for critical nuclear power plant equipment. To meet these needs, dataPartner offers its services and products:

Neutron Instrumentation and Reactor Protection System

Apparatus of neutron instrumentation from dataPartner provide accurate and reliable data on the density of the neutron flux and its magnitude rate of change in the range from the start of fission chain reaction to the nominal power of the reactor. This task is solved using various configurations of electronic devices and fission and ionization chambers from various manufacturers. The result information is transmitted to the reactor protection system, which initiates its reliable and rapid shutdown when safety limits are exceeded. The data is further transmitted to the reactor control system and can be also exported for instance to scientific instrument.

Neutron instrumentation units can perform safety functions classified as category A or B, according to CSN EN IEC 61226 for categorization of functions and classification of systems of nuclear power plants. Therefore, they are certified for the necessary EMC and seismic resistance, have maximum self-diagnostic coverage and provide the possibility of simple, authorized setting of the required parameters.

Nuclear Facility Instrumentation and Control Systems

The company dataPartner also provides supplies  in the field of instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power installations. Here, it performs complex deliveries ranging from the creation of project documentation, through implementation to warranty and post-warranty service. A typical feature of these orders are the requirements for systems classified in categories A, B or C according to ČSN EN IEC 61226 for categorization of functions and classification of nuclear power plants systems. These include both innovations of existing systems and new projects, especially the implementation of equipment to support energy research.

Another emerging chapter is participation in projects for the preparation and construction of small modular SMR reactors. Here dataPartner has a lot to offer: Devices for ex-core measurement of neutron flux as a diversion solution to the devices offered by the SMR supplier, it can also apply its skills from specific projects with high nuclear safety requirements and experience from the development of special electronics.

Special Electronics Development

The company dataPartner has been developing and continuously improving the parameters of neutron instrumentation for almost twenty years. It has gained enough experience and is able to carry out custom development of similar electronics at a high professional level, for special applications according to the customer needs. There is a wide range of hardware and software equipment available, which allows for high-quality development work from the design phase, through the activation and physical properties testing of the developed electronic devices.

Our customers

For more than 20 years, we have been developing neutron instrumentation apparatus and protective systems for research reactors. Our apparatus is used by all operational research and training reactors in the Czech Republic, neighboring countries, and some even outside Europe.
